Some info about Anne Torres:
Jutta Anne Torres was born in 1962 in Guetersloh, a small town in Germany. From 1983 on she worked as a model for the “Wihelmina” Agency in Manhattan, New York, aside being a Personal Assistant. While following her regular work, she started to visit different art courses at Hunter College, as since being a little girl, her true passion and her heart belonged to everything that had to do with arts.
And though family planning came along, she never stopped doing crafts.
Since the 90s she was able to work in NYC as a recognized artist and up till today, she commutes between Germany and the US.
Main topics of her work are many times political and social critical issues, from national and international origin. The Human being, alone and in society, often appears within her work.
A great example is her large-sized painting about the Love-Parade catastrophe in 2010. Vibrant colors, showing the former organizer Rainer Schaller, one of the supposed co-respondents, in the background.
An impressive painting, which recently was undertaken into the museums catalog of the museum ‘Haus der Geschichte’ in Bonn, Germany.
Torres usually works with pencil, oil, acrylic and aquarelle on paper, canvas and wood. Furthermore she crafts sculptures from wood and cement.
Upon request, the artist also prepares special orders that reach from sports to industry and more.
